Connor McGlynn

Connor McGlynn is an award-winning journalist based in Los Angeles striving to bring you the best stories you never knew about. He is currently the Digital Content Coordinator at FOX Sports West and a Highlight Producer at NFL Network. Connor graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minor in Sports Media Studies and happily boasts Philadelphia as his home city.
Since joining FSW in April 2018, Connor is a primary content creator for FOXSportsWest.com and the FSW social media accounts — IG, Twitter, FB, YouTube. In regards to the website, he writes original long-form features incorporating varying storytelling devices ranging from traditional prose to visually dominant pieces, as well as news hits pertaining to the Southern California sports audience with emphasis on team partners: Los Angeles Angels, Clippers, Kings, Anaheim Ducks and CIF-Southern Section football. Connor is also responsible for the site’s layout, exhibiting extensive news judgment abilities.
As the primary content creator for FSW’s social platforms, Connor produces original works such as highlight and graphic driven videos using Adobe Premiere and After Effects to static graphics with Photoshop on a daily basis. Along with this outside-of-game content, Connor uses SnappyTV to clip live events and post everything from GIFs to highlights in real-time. Other outside-of-game content he is responsible for includes the production of XTRAPOINT, a digital-first feature series focused on off-the-field and human interest stories pertaining athletics. Connor serves as a field producer and assists in coordinating these shoots.
While full-time at FSW, Connor is in his second season at NFL Network as a highlight producer. After serving as a full-time production assistant during the 2017 season where non-gameday responsibilities included producing the Super Bowl Champion essay, Top 10s, music videos, XO diagrams, wired packages, teases and SOT packages on studio shows like NFL Total Access and Playbook, he now focuses on producing gameday highlights and writing shot sheets for talent.
Additionally, Connor’s prior production work includes time with NBC Olympics and on the set of an HBO Docu-Series, while he has reported for Rivals.com, The Rose Bowl Game, SB Nation and Annenberg TV News. He has extensive audio experience as well, earning national and local recognition for radio reporting and serving as a host of a weekly podcast, The Sound of Troy.
During the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and Paralympics, Connor served as a production assistant stationed at the NBC Sports headquarters in Stamford, CT. Over the course of the Olympics, he monitored over 10,000 hours of melt, behind-the-scenes and alternate camera feeds for intriguing material he then pitched daily to the head of Digital Content and worked closely with craft edit bays until final production. He also contributed to cataloging thousands of clips used in broadcast features, including the culminating Titans piece. During the Paralympics, Connor worked on the tape-to-air broadcast production, serving as the sole PA responsible for cutting segments from the overnight live broadcast to fit time restrictions in shortened blocks aired during primetime. Connor also interned as a PA in the NBC Highlight Factory during the 2016 Rio Olympics, logging events and producing digital highlights for sports such as handball, track and field and fencing. |
As a staff writer for Rivals.com covering USC football through daily practices, sideline in-game reporting and recruiting news, Connor traveled the country working the beat. Through this work, he has shot sideline hits, streamed live on-site postgame analysis, interviewed high school recruits and coaches from around the country, written profiles and scouted talent.
During the 101st, 102nd, 103rd, 104th and 105th Rose Bowl Games, Connor worked in media operations and managed the Game's official social media accounts. In doing so, he grew the @RoseBowlGame's Twitter account by over 10,000 followers and increased the amount of engagements by more than 1 million over the game week span from 2014 to 2017. Additionally, he gathered interviews, photos, videos and other content for media outlets, as well as other daily operational tasks.
While at USC, Connor assisted in creating a weekly live digital-only show called Sports SCene. As an Executive Producer and co-host, he orchestrated the program’s move to stream directly on Facebook Live and organized this first-of-its-kind studio show dedicated to analysis, interviews and features of all USC athletics teams.

Additionally, Connor held various roles within the student-run news organization, Annenberg TV News beginning with his first semester on campus: studio crew, news producer, Sports Multimedia Director and Sports Director. In these positions, he trained anchors to produce a daily sports block within a newscast, worked as a liaison between ATVN and the USC athletics department, organized interviews and credentials, managed all web content and oversaw all broadcasted sports coverage for Annenberg Media. |
Though sports are his primary passion, Connor has demonstrated his skills as a proficient radio news reporter. He was named a runner-up for the 2018 LA Press Club Radio News award for his piece on homelessness and hunger in Los Angeles and won first place in the Radio Hard News Reporting category during the 2018 Broadcast Education Association national competition for his coverage of a local election.
A native of the Philadelphia suburb Norristown, Connor is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and was named the 2015 Chick Hearn Memorial Scholar and 2016 Allan Malamud Scholar before graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2017.
